Planning for 2021-2022 at Arklow FETC

The end of one term means that, centre staff are busy planning the new one! And when it is the last term of the academic year, there is another level of planning…requiring coloured pens and highlighters! All of our courses for the coming academic year 2021-2022 have gone live on www.fetchcourses.ie but now ahead of starting the enrollment process we have to iron out the calendar and start to look at timetabling for the 4 programmes housed in Arklow FETC.

Remote learning removed the constraints of physical space in the centre, making our timetables more flexible over the last year, but now as we prepare for what we hope will be a sustained return to the centre in September, every inch of space will be considered. We look forward to investing in two of our computer rooms this summer, with 20 new desk tops en-route to Arklow FETC ready for our students in September. We are preparing to engage in some learning remotely, but we hope that government guidelines will enable us to return to the centre for the majority of teaching and learning in 2021-2022.

Today was about calendars….When we plan to start the academic year for 2021-2022, next when we finish and then everything in between! Here’s a couple of key holidays for the upcoming year which are given to us by the Department of Education as part of the standardised school year, each programme issues a calendar for each programme so you will have all that information before you commence your course!

October Midterm break; 25th -29th of October 2021

Christmas Holidays; 23rd of December 2021 to the 5th of January 2022 (Closing the 22nd of December and reopening the 6th January)

February Midterm break; 21st- 25th of February 2022

Easter Holidays; 11th- 22nd of April 2022

By the end of the Easter Holidays we’ll be full swing into planning again!
