Skills to Compete

Skills to Compete is an initiative to support those who have lost their jobs as a result of COVID-19, to re-enter the workforce. In support of the Programme for Government and the post-COVID recovery plan, the FET sector are prioritising the reskilling and retraining of those unable to return to their previous employment following the COVID19 crisis. 

Skills to Compete is a SOLAS initiative that offers FREE reskilling and retraining if you have lost your job or want to improve your skills, Skills to Compete offers free reskilling and retraining courses. These courses focus on improving your employability and ability to compete for jobs. There are online, full-time and part-time courses available.

Courses include tailored advice and support. Focussing on:

• skills development to help employability

• building the digital skills now needed for almost every job

• courses aimed at growing sectors and jobs

• certificate courses, from level 4 to level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)

Skills to Compete offers an immediate and powerful labour market activation response to the COVID19 crisis for those over 18 years of age. 

Skills to Compete offers a package of targeted, modularised education and training aimed at supporting re-entry into the workforce.
